CarbonEthics Ignites Youth Passion for a Sustainable Green Economy at Youth Speak Forum

In today's world, tackling environmental challenges requires a collective effort, and young people play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future. Recognizing this, AIESEC Indonesia, the youth-run non-profit organization, invented a global initiative namely Youth Speak Forum, a platform that empowers young voices to discuss pressing issues in Indonesia.

The forum involved various stakeholders, government, private institutions, such as the representatives from Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara, Badan Standardisasi Instrumen Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, Moderated by Monica Fransisca Khonado (Miss Earth Indonesia 2020) the talk show session in Youth Speak Forum featured a lineup of inspiring speakers, such as Jessica Novia (Co-Founder of CarbonEthics), Morgan Oey (Influencer), Tizar Shahwirman (Group Lead of Employer Branding at GoTo Group), Suci Hendrina (Head of CSR & Corporate Communication ParagonCorp), and Muhammad Rizki Kresnawan (Senior Project Manager Energy System at Climateworks Centre).

This year, the forum delved into the critical topic of "Eco-Finance: Discovering Youth-led Green Economy Potential to Make a Positive Impact on Society", aligning with the 8th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of promoting decent work and economic growth within the framework of sustainable development. The topic targets young Indonesians, aiming to spark their passion and equip them with the tools to pursue eco-friendly financial opportunities in the green economy. By doing so, it empowers them to shape their own futures while contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious Indonesia.

Among the esteemed speakers, Jessica Novia, Co-Founder of CarbonEthics, shared her insights on the green economy and its potential for youth engagement. In simple terms, the green economy prioritizes environmental sustainability while promoting economic growth. It fosters businesses and industries that contribute to a healthier planet, from renewable energy and energy efficiency to sustainable agriculture and responsible waste management. She highlighted the critical role of environmental education in empowering young people to participate in the green economy.

The Youth Speak Forum served as a powerful call to action for young Indonesians. By equipping themselves with knowledge, collaborating with like-minded individuals, and advocating for sustainable practices, young people have the potential to become the driving force behind a thriving green economy in Indonesia.

AIESEC Indonesia's initiative serves as a model for other organizations looking to empower young leaders. By providing platforms for discussion, fostering collaboration, and promoting environmental education, we can all work together to create a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
