Our Story
Our co-founders first met at the One Young World Summit 2018 in the Netherlands, representing their respective companies to tackle the world's most pressing issues, including climate change. That shared drive to act led them to bring CarbonEthics to the table.
The urgency of the climate crisis led to CarbonEthics' founding in May 2019, built on high-quality projects aimed at restoring the climate, empowering communities, and fostering thriving biodiversity. We exist to drive climate solutions in Indonesia that create meaningful impact for people and the planet. Starting as a not-for-profit organization, CarbonEthics is now expanding its reach with a social enterprise arm, partnering with businesses and institutions to accelerate the race to net zero.

We started our blue carbon conservation with mangroves in Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta
2020
Our first expansion to restore the house of beautiful coral reefs, Bali
2021
Extended restoration work to Bintan Island, adding seagrass conservation
We are currently supporting the G20 event series to be carbon neutral through our carbon consulting and offsetting service
2022
Expanded into an impact enterprise and named a finalist for the B20 Indonesia 2022 Sustainability Award
2023
Warkop Karbon Indonesia with the Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry
Partnered with Transjakarta to bring climate education to bus stops across Jakarta
2024
Secured US$2.1 million in funding led by Intudo Ventures
Earned B Corp certification, and won "Initiative of the Year" at the Indonesia Social Responsibility Awards (ISRA) 2024
2025
Kick off implementation of Pulang Pisau PRESERVE, a 21,000+ hectare peatland restoration and fire prevention project in Central Borneo
