On August 7, 2024, CarbonEthics and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the establishment of the TERA (Take Environmental Regenerative Action) program. This collaborative initiative is designed to promote mangrove conservation in Indonesia, a strategic step to mitigate climate change impact in Indonesia.
The signing of this MoU was signed by Bimo Soewadji (CEO of CarbonEthics), along with Shinta W. Khamdani (WKU Coordinator for Maritime, Investment, and Industry of KADIN Indonesia), and Heru P. Yudha (Senior Partnership Manager of Earth Security). This also serves as a pre-event to the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum, ISF, 2024, a platform to showcase a rescuing Indonesia commitment to also integrating sustainability into economic growth strategy.
Shinta W. Khamdani, emphasized the importance of this partnership during the event's opening. "This partnership today goes beyond addressing these threats (inland conversation for agriculture, aquaculture, infrastructure development, and unsustainable exploitation). It focuses on closer leveraging the economic and ecological values of mangroves". This statement emphasizes the collective desire of stakeholders to develop policies and initiatives aligned with sustainability goals.
Our Founder, Bimo Soewadji also had the opportunity to convey CarbonEthics' five year journey, not only restoring mangroves, but we also have to make sure that the community has others' income, in terms of, they need to also be dependent on the mangroves ecosystem in terms of the economy. Through this collaboration, CarbonEthics has the opportunity to have a wider impact.
“So exciting collaborations between KADIN, Carbon Ethics, and also our securities, and we hope that with this collaboration, we can fast forward the holistic mangrove rehabilitation, not only about restorations, but also how to make sure the livelihood is there, the commodity is there, there's a sustainable off-taper, they can get premiums, climate community, biodiversity can also be restored.” – Bimo Soewadji, Founder of CarbonEthics.
This program is a multi-stakeholder collaboration with KADIN Indonesia, CarbonEthics, Earth Security, Earth Pledge, and Arunika Bumi Lestari which raises awareness of the critical importance of mangrove restoration and the power of collaboration in driving this essential environmental movement.
Through this collaboration, we aim to create long-term value for the environment and also hope to engage more partners to increase the environmental movement in mitigating climate change.
